There are many things to do in and around Toulouse. Here are a few ideas, but the list is far from exhaustive. A more detailed list can be found here.

Sites in Toulouse :

• The St Sernin Basilica  - the largest remaining Romanesque building in Europe
• La Place du Capitole - the main square in Toulouse with roads leading to many of the small cobbled streets, lined by shops and restaurants
• La Garonne - the river running from the Pyrenees to the Atlantic, through Toulouse and Bordeaux
• Le Canal du Midi -  water way stretching from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean - follow the canal on foot (40 minutes) or bike (15 minutes) from the town centre to IRAP!

Sites outside of Toulouse

• Cité de Carcassone - Citadel/medieval fortress at 80 km (1 hour on the train) from Toulouse
• La Dordogne -  A region just north of Toulouse with many old castles, caves and rivers
• The Pyrenees mountains - the mountains are 60 km from Toulouse. It is currently ski season and you can get to the closest slopes in less than 1.5 hours in the car or less than two hours on the train - purchase a skirail ticket which includes your train ticket and ski pass for less than 40€
